The Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa is designed for parents of Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or eligible New Zealand citizens who want to visit Australia for either three (3) or five (5) years.
To be eligible, a parent must be the biological, adoptive, or step-parent, or parent-in-law of the sponsoring child, who must be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen. Unlike some other visas, there is no family balance test or assurance of support requirements for this visa. Sponsors, however, must meet certain financial requirements to support the visa applicant.
