Meeting the health requirement is crucial for both permanent and many temporary visa applications.
It’s important for applicants and their family members to avoid having a health condition that would result in a significant health care and community service cost to the Australian community, or prevent Australian citizens or permanent residents from accessing health care or community services that are currently in short supply.
The health waiver provision offers an opportunity for individuals who don’t meet the standard health requirements to be considered for a visa. To qualify, they must show that they can address health-related costs or present compelling compassionate circumstances. If the Department of Home Affairs is satisfied with their ability to manage the relevant costs, the visa may be granted.
